Y2K BIOS Updates

Customers requiring only the RTC (Real-Time Clock) BIOS module to be updated can also request, in addition to a BIOS update, a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident DOS Module) solution. Customers who have a unique customer-specific BIOS will need to speak with the Engineering Department. Contact the Engineering Department via email at eng @ megatel.ca, and the Sales Department via email at sales @ megatel.ca

Table 3: Y2k Report
This report describes each non-compliant issue and how it was resolved in the updated BIOS.

BIOS Module Problem Solution Y2K Compliant
Megatel RTC module When the century rolls over, the century byte in the CMOS was not being updated. The new module moves 20 (hex) to CMOS register number 32 (hex). Register 32 (hex) is defined as AT standard century byte. All ver 3.21 and above are Y2K compliant.
SCSI module Uses interrupt 1ah Sub-function 00h, which does not support Y2K (this is an internal O/S function only). New module obtains timer tick count directly from 0040:006C (hex:hex) and 0040:006E (hex:hex) (original locations). Ver 2.14d
TFFS Socket Services Module Uses interrupt 1ah Sub-function 00h, which does not support Y2K (this is an internal O/S function only). New module obtains timer tick count directly from 0040:006C (hex:hex) and 0040:006E (hex:hex) (original locations). Ver 3.2beta11.300
